Baby:

  • Boys are heavier than girls at birth.
  • With time, the baby is growing to be rounder, with pinkier and less wrinkled skin.
  • Baby will position his/her head down towards your pelvis for birth.
  • If head of the baby has not turned towards your pelvis, consult your doctor for various medical and natural techniques to get the head down position of the baby.

 Mom-to-be:

  • Even if your uterus remains the same size, your weight will increase upto 25 to 35 pounds.
  • To check the progress of your pregnancy, pelvic examination will be conducted by your doctor.
  • Mucous plug which is -thick, yellowish/ brownish/ tinged with blood and which had been sealing your cervix, may get leaked. (This is called Bloody Show). Mucous plug can be leaked a few weeks, days, or hours before labor. It discharges when cervix dilates in preparation for the labor. You must talk to your doctor as soon as this happens.

  • Get yourself prepared with two bags packed separately for yourself and your baby.
  • Your bag may include- your maternity file, a comfortable robe for delivery, sanitary napkins, bathroom slippers, socks, a head scarf, sets of extra clothing, toiletries etc.

"Soon you are going to have, a little baby in tow. Not just one reason of joy, you will have many in row. Soon you will have many, reasons to celebrate. Only for few days, you will now have to wait."

We are glad to share some relevant pregnancy information with you !!

Baby :

  • 20.7 measured and 6 pounds weighed plump baby has come a long way from being a wrinkly, tiny fetus which you may have seen on earlier ultrasounds.
  • The baby's full face is because of the powerful sucking muscles and fat on its cheeks.
  • The baby descends in your lower abdomen with a head down position.
  • Rapid development of brain and practice of blinking by the baby continues.
  • During delivery the head of the baby has to pass through narrow birth canal, so the skull bones overlap each other for easy passage of head. (This is known as Molding).
  • At birth, the baby's head can be disfigured, which will automatically come to a rounded shape, after some hours.

Mom-to-be:

  • Uterus goes on increasing and shifting more under your ribs.
  • Weekly appointments with the doctors are mandatory now.
  • Discomfort has become the part of your pregnancy by now, as days pass.

Tip of the Week:

  • Make extra food items to keep for days to come.

Me and my Baby at 35th week

"Till this time you wondered and wondered, who is this person coming, growing, turning, floating, swimming deep, deep inside. Soon there will be end of this serene period, when your baby will lie on your chest wrapped in a warm towel."

We are glad to share some relevant pregnancy information with you !!

Baby:

  • Fully developed lungs of the baby now ensures that breathing will be normal after it comes outside.
  • To keep the skin warm in the outside environment, fat deposits are still building underneath its skin.
  • Baby has almost stopped moving at all as there is no space left for it to move because of its increasing size.
  • The movements which are made now are very strong and forceful.
  • Being in head-first position, the baby's head will rest on the mother's pubic bone in preparation for labor.

Mom-to-be:

  • The uterus has raised up to 6 inches above your navel as you have gained 24-29 pounds by this week.
  • If shortness of breath persists, then it is because of the uterus is just underneath your rib cage.
  • Baby starts to droop when the period of pregnancy is coming to an end, also called lightening.
  • The baby starts settling deeper in your pelvis, relieving your diaphragm from the pressure, resulting in no shortness of breath.
  • You will be frequently urinating because of lightening, as it increases pressure on bladder.

Tip of the Week:

  • Are you ready for the baby?
  • Have you made lists of essentials to be carried to the hospital?
  • Keep yourself updated about everything from immunizations to policies for scheduling and canceling appointments, etc.
  • Have you decided about the pediatrician for your baby? Talk to your gynecologist/obstetrician, family/friends about it.

  • Fingernails are fully grown but toenails are half-grown.
  • Compressed space doesn't allow the baby to move more.
  • As the baby will draw calcium from the mother to make and harden his bones, so the mother should take calcium regularly. Baby will anyhow take the minerals from mother's skeletal structure and weaken mother's bone.

Mom-to-be:

  • Braxton Hicks contractions have started coming, only as practise, which may not even felt sometimes.
  • Expanded pelvis and backache may trouble you sometimes.

We are glad to share some relevant pregnancy information with you !!

Baby:

  • Immense growth will happen for a few weeks now.
  • Half of the birth weight will be gained by the baby in these weeks, making it to move less as there will be much more less space, leading it to curl its knees, chin resting on chest, and arms and legs crossed.
  • Except the skull, which remains soft and pliable for delivery, all the bones start to harden.

Mom-to-be:

  • Lanugo hair has started falling off, with some remains on the shoulders and back at birth.

We are glad to share some relevant pregnancy information with you !!

Baby:

  • Baby urinates too much in a day into the amniotic fluid.
  • Swallowing of completely replaced amniotic fluid also occurs. If baby doesn't swallow normally or if there is gastrointestinal obstruction, excess fluid in the amniotic sac (known as polyhydramnios) remains.
  • If there is inadequate fluid in the amniotic sac (oligohydramnios), consult a doctor as your baby isn't urinating properly and this could indicate a problem with the kidneys or urinary tract.
  • Amniotic fluid can be measured during regular ultrasounds.
  • Baby puts on more fat to enter into the world as a newborn in appearance.

Mom-to-be:

  • You have noticed a yellowish or creamy substance leaking from breast. This fluid is called colostrum or pre-milk and first feed to be taken by your baby.

  • Fully formed hands and growing fingernails are observed.
  • Breathing movements mimics will be started by the baby for after childbirth, by repeatedly moving the diaphragm.

  • Are you getting tired easily. Are you regular with your iron intake. If needed your doctor will repeat blood test, to see your hemoglobin level so that the iron deficiency can be corrected.
  • You have sleepless nights, so experiment with different sleeping positions so that you can get comfortable sleep easily. Your about 4 inches above your navel uterus makes you disbelieve that there are 10 more weeks for the childbirth and the baby continues to push on your ribs. Discomfort in your pelvis and abdomen is common. You will gain more weight in this week.

Tip of the Week:

  • You may have more backaches now as you have gained weight and baby has grown big so evaluate your posture. Are you going for regular antenatal exercises. It helps.
